Earthquake....shaken but not stirred

I was having brunch with a client and friend when the earthquake of July 30th struck. He was a native Los Angelino who seemed unfazed by the exodus from Hugo's on cell phones who proceeded to tell me that we should just finish our meal and it was not very big (5.4).....On reflection to yesterdays events I seemed slightly unfazed myself that the city was shaken yet did not stir, my refrigerator repair man turned up on time and did not even discuss the quake, he just want to defrost the freezer. 24hours later I have noticed dip in peoples emotional energy, some lack of luster, a wee bit of the post quake blues.......and I am not excluded in this feeling so today I hiked with appreciated and from a place a being grateful for the low seismic quake and the feeling of being alive.

Native American Indian Sweat Lodge...Full Moon Saturday Aug 16th

The sweat lodge is an important ritual used by Native American Indians as a ceremonial sauna to purify the mind, body and soul combination. The Lodge symbolizes the womb of Grandmother Earth and the heated stones represent her body supporting life. The fire is used to heat the rocks on the outside of the tarpit and represent the perpetual light. Once these stones are brought into the lodge the water is poured upon them to create steam which permeates the air, creating hot, humid atmosphere conductive of the energies that are invited into the lodge.

All four elements of earth, fire, water and air combined with our ancestors energies creates an atmosphere of intense release for many as you sit in the dark unable to distract your attention from yourself through observing others. The flap is opened on three occasions to allow the firekeeper to enter more hot stones into the pit, as the heat builds and becomes more intense. There are four part of the ceremony, as the stones are brought in for the first part we will led in a chant, by Patti, the door is then closed and the sweat begins. More water is poured as the chief, Lyn offers prayers for self, others and for releasing pain and suffering. Each round offers new test of endurance of the heat, your feelings and yourself.

I love these sweats and I am very lucky to have Lyn who has been healing for many years and founder of the Wild Rose Dream Lodge since 1993. Our Reiki energy adds a new dimension to the sweats and I look forward to many stories that we share after our experience together as we eat our pot luck at Doug's who is our firekeeper and host of the sweats in Pasadena.

Please join the mailing list to be informed of these events as they fill quickly and space is limited. The sweat is $30 and please bring a pot luck dish so that we can feast together afterwards. The first sweat by Lyn & Patti will be on August 16th a beautiful Full Moon, so be prepared to let it all go.......!

July Reiki Circle .....

July Reiki Circle @ the beach ....Saturday July 26th.....4pm-5.30pm
Just to give you the heads up, overnight camping trip to Sequoia in early September (Reiki Circle and riding horse's).
This months Circle is bringing the energy of the ocean into our life's, going with the current and recognizing when doors are closed that others are opened. I sometimes believe we try and make things happen that should not really transpire and give up too soon on other things and poeple, it is knowledge that points us in the direction but wisdom that chooses the path.

I feel we are all fish in a ocean of ether, sometimes we don't understand we live inside the energy all we have to do is swim towards a point on the horizon but not against the current. Sometimes we should have ate more carbs before we got in the water as the distance is far and sometimes we should not have ate so much as it drags us down. What do you need on your journey to reach your destination in life? Who would you like swimming next to you? You sometimes do not need to know every stroke you are going to make on your journey ........just the point on the horizon.
