The Dam Experiment

My Dam fear was known to me for many years but last year I walked the Hollywood Dam as a pre amble. As I walked the Dam, making my way into the middle I could feel the body of water being held back. Standing in between two worlds of water/lake to a sheer drop/dryness was very reminiscent to my work with energy. Standing between the two worlds of physical and non-physical being the translator can be a balancing act of sorts.
The road trip to the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon was to conjure up new sensations. The Hoover Dam did not have the same feelings or sensations as the Hollywood Dam and if they did my work the year before would have been futile.....so what was it that this Dam held for me. As I walked over the Dam with it vast concrete carved out of the scenery I felt a feeling of nature and man creating something quite magnificent. The combo of the significant and the insignificant was quite clear, harnessing the energy being held in this place was one of joy and accomplishment more than anything else.
The Grand Canyon on the other hand had a very different energy. This sacred space that has been etched for us to fathom the vastness reached deep into my psyche. My parents and I decided to get up before sunrise so see the Canyon for the first time. We had driven into the National Preserve the night before in the pitch dark and went with other intuition to find out lodge. As we approached the Yavapai Observation point my mother half sleeping walked to the end to scream aloud in her Scottish Brogue "OMG look at the size of that ...its enormous". Her sudden realization at the vastness could not have been put any better and made us all laugh. As we toured the South Rim and I recalled the experience of standing on the glass bridge the day before with my father a feeling of greatness was to fill me from the emptiness of the canyon. This "hole in the ground" has been given to us to comprehend the greatness with in ourselves that we can also carve out slowly but surely.
So with that there are no more blocks, no more holding me back to be all I can be .....and I give that as my gift to you. Find your greatness with you and unleash not your potential but your gifts. In the words of Muhammed Ali "I am the greatest"
